ACT Govt NextGen Grants

ACT Next Generation Energy Storage Grants

Affordable battery storage will make solar power accessible to a much larger group of households.
In Australia, the ACT is leading the charge. The territory government is supporting the rollout of energy storage to around 5,000 Canberra homes and businesses by 2020. This is one of the largest rollouts of household batteries in the world. The government will collect valuable real-world data on energy storage system costs and performance. They’ll use the data to make sure consumers get the best outcomes and to encourage more people to generate and store their own solar energy.
If you install an ITP NextGen package, you’ll be participating in this important research that will speed up the transition to renewable energy both locally and globally.

How can I get a grant? If you live in the ACT, you can take advantage of the Next Generation Energy Storage Grants program to get a rebate on the upfront costs of your solar power and battery system.
ITP Home Energy is one of the few businesses selected by the ACT government to bring this program to householders. We have three packages for you to choose from, to suit your needs and budget.

Am I eligible for a NextGen package? Many homes and businesses within the ACT can benefit from the government’s Next Generation Energy Storage Grants program.

We can install a system for you under the program if you:

  • Have the system installed at a residence or business with an ACT address
  • Have a reliable internet connection
  • Have a strong and reliable data connection
  • Have space on your roof for at least 3kW of panels
  • Have a suitable space for the battery and inverter
  • Agree to share data with the ACT government and other approved groups for research purposes.

We can install your new solar PV system whether or not you have an existing system.

If you have an existing system on a gross feed-in tariff we will install a new system alongside and independent of the old system, meaning your existing feed-in tariffs will not be affected. If your system is on a net feed-in tariff, we can retrofit a battery to work with the panels already on the roof. However, your existing system must meet our requirements for a retrofit.

Next Generation Packages

Choose from our two solar PV system and battery packages.

We’ll visit your home to help you choose the best one for your needs, taking into account:

  • Available space for installing your solar and battery system
  • Your current electricity usage.

As an optional system extra, each package can be configured to provide back-up power from the panels and battery in case of a blackout.
